UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF PYLONS L.P. – Kiz Pattison
‘Machines Building Machines’ by Kiz Pattison heralded a new and exciting dawn for Pro B Tech‘s sister label, bTechNoir Records. This burgeoning talent now supplements the well-received release with a mini-album, crystallizing Pattison’s train of thought when it comes to techno at it’s most moody and underground.
‘Chaotic Controlled’ opens the show. A track with powerful, brooding tones and a vicious acid underbelly, the artist states his intentions for the LP in no uncertain terms. ‘Corruption’ continues in a similar vein, throbbing rhythms and lo-slung analog frequencies attack the soundscape in non-relenting fashion.
‘Destroy’ provides a brief interlude of relative calm, an influx of trippy, evolving melodics allowing the dancefloor to catch it’s breath before Pattison’s rethink of ‘Machines Building Machines’ escalates the intensity to peak levels.
‘Relentless’ is arguably the most brutally effective of the package, growling analog synths embroidering the dancefloor with yet more savagery.
‘Resilient’ completes a raw and refreshing long player. Dark, trippy and aggressive, the track offers a suitably bold conclusion to what is undoubtedly Pattison’s most arresting statement of arrival thus far.
