HEAVY DECEMBER E.P. – BOOM MERCHANTS

Glasgow’s Boom Merchant visits Pro B Tech Music in an all-Scottish affair for our next release. With a sound which is hard to pigeon-hole, perhaps this EP is best placed in the folder simply entitled ‘High Quality’.

‘Spring Rhythm’ is highly danceable, deep and alluring. A substratum of tough classic drum rhythms haul the track in militant fashion, while a body of synths ripen and evolve alongside.

‘Heavy December’ nods to Boom Merchant‘s tribal-infused discography. A bongo-led groove is quickly established before subaqueous synth work breathes further life into an utterly infectious track.

‘808 Escape’ is aptly titled and initially drum-led, akin to much of the Glaswegian’s other work. Delivering a smattering of classic Roland sounds to create a heavy, no-nonsense groove, it’s not long before his penchant for musicality resurfaces in the form of an emphatically catchy synth sequence served with expert arrangement.
