Hailing from the industrial landscape of Teesside in North East England, Hall North rose to notoriety when his remix of Harvey Mckay’s ’69’ was released on the legendary Soma Records in Oct ober 2010.
A classically trained pianist with huge enthusiasm for all things electronic and a life-long fan of bands like Depeche Mode and New Order, Hall North draws inspiration from a diverse pallette of influences, from Brian Eno to Brian Transeau, Joy Division to Peace Division, The XX to X-Press 2.Much like the landscape surrounding his home town, Hall North’s tracks and sets encompass all that is deep/ethereal and dark/beautiful about house and techno and emphasise the pure bitter sweet emotion that makes dancefloor experiences so memorable.
Recently described by former IDJ Editor Russell Weeks as “One of the UK’s hottest producers”, Hall North rose to notoriety due to his remix of Harvey Mckay’s ’69’ which was released on Soma in October 2010. Since then he has gone on to remix the likes of Chris Fortier, Andry Nalin (Nalin & Kane) and SAYTEK (Cubism) and release original material on Wiggle Records, Glue Music, Tulipa Records (among others) to rave revues.
Support on his tracks has come from the likes of Carl Cox, Hot Since 82, Maya Jane Coles, Claude von Stroke, John Digweed, X Press 2 and Paul Oakenfold among others and his DJ sets have featured on Lucidflow and UM Podcasts as well as Ibiza Sonica and Innervisions radio as well as on his own fortnightly ‘Hall North House’ show on Brap FM.
