Karlos [Managed Artist]

With a determination to embrace the unknown, Karlos’s multi-faceted career in the dance music industry echoes his passion for the scene. Music runs in his blood and with a family tree dotted with classical composers, it is not surprising that he was magnetized by the power of sound and the liberation of dance. From the hazy days of euphoria raving at underground parties on the Pembrokeshire coast, he was hooked on the journeys DJs were able to transport listeners on.

If music was his drug then the legendary Northern Exposure mix was the gateway, opening the doors of perception to new ways of thinking as he began to consider entering the world of production. Soon he was DJing and promoting nights, learning his trade initially on a beat-up pair of belt drive vinyl decks. However, after personal tragedy struck in 2000, he set off around the world not forgetting to take a treasured stack of vinyl. From behind the decks in exotic locales, he forged enduring connections and friendships.

Upon his return to the UK, Karlos juggled marriage, family life, and the pursuit of a degree, all while working part-time at a record store, where his currency was vinyl. Despite playing at various nights across Sheffield, Lockdown provided a timely reboot enabling long hours in the studio and the opportunity to enter a series of DJ competitions. His technical prowess saw him not only win the DJ Inbox competition but secure second and third in the Saturo Sounds and 21C Progressive House comps. His seamless mixing saw him acquire coveted slots on several internet radio stations but significantly saw him join forces with Mark Kovach at DJs Inbox spearheading their Embark programme to support emerging producers.

During this time, he forged a relationship with Lee Softley (Blue Amazon) who would become a significant mentor and they agreed he would run the Resonate Together label backed by Mark Kovach and Marcus Nilla. Furthermore, he gained a residency at the AATM radio, developing it into a highly respected brand that would host an array of highly esteemed DJs from within the progressive scene before he closed the station to focus on other projects. Partnerships with the likes of Pro B Tech and Pangea Records saw him coordinate events at ADE as his reputation as an astute selector, label head, and forward-thinking promoter grew exponentially.

As a DJ, he has played alongside luminaries such as Ruben Karapetyan, Paul Nolan, Brent Lawson, Four Candles, Lemon8, Jaap Ligthart, Enertia-Sound, Ranj Kaler and more. With his production work now in the spotlight, his prominence as a razor-sharp producer is rising. Releases for the likes of the Prognosis, Session Road Music, Arbor Recordings and Hexagonal Music have showcased a mode of throbbing late-night techno that harks back to the halcyon days of progressive house. Full of dark twists and euphoric peaks each track is an epic journey into his unique sound. As ever Karlos goes about his work diligently, delivering the goods and carving out a niche as an innovative producer not afraid to pay homage to the glory days of the dance scene. With his mission to unite people with the visceral exhilaration of electronic music and ignite the passions of new listeners, Karlos’s sound will take you into the unknown..
